We Get Letters

Dear Ed,

Are you allowed to just drop in on people during Afternoon Theatre? Or ring them on the phone? Surely there is some rule like the one not before 10.00 am on a Sunday and never at home after 21.00 hours, or during dinner.

We were quietly listening to ‘A Tokyo Murder: The Detective’ (wonderful!) on R4 when almost simultaneously the phone
rang and the front door bell went!

We missed the last 15 minutes of a gripping drama of the D/I sent to Tokyo to investigate the disappearance of a young girl. We’d just had the sexy bit about the discovery of the female manikin with 150 (!) articulated parts…

We were able to calmly focus on the phone call and the caller, confident in the knowledge we could go to listen again. But horror of horrors it wasn’t there, only the previous episode, ‘A Tokyo Murder: The Parents”, which was certainly of no interest.

What is the rule about calling? And could you inform your readers?

Mrs. B. Ergerac

PS. Just discovered it was there and now you can listen to the grusim finale! Well worth it!
